Frequently Asked Questions

I am interested in a science or art class. Do I need to pay both the supply fee and the lab fee?

No. Science and Art classes will only need to pay the one, separately listed fee. The cost of supplies and lab specimens drives up the cost of these classes. Keeping this fee separate prevents teachers from having to spend part of their pay on supplies.

How do I know if my child is the right age for a specific class?

As we update the course descriptions we are adding a grade range as general guidance. Pre-requisites are also listed in the course description. This information will help you assess whether or not your child is ready for a specific class. If you are still uncertain, or have special circumstances, you are always welcome to ask the leadership team questions and get their recommendations for your specific situation. The beauty of homeschooling is that there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach, so we have some flexibility!

Is this a drop-off program? Can I drop off my child and leave?

No, this is not a drop-off program. Parents who have a valid reason to leave campus should make arrangements with a friend to be the “mom-in-charge” for their students while absent. This arrangement must be discussed with STARS leadership so that we are aware in an emergency. Older children who have demonstrated responsibility may *earn* the right to be on campus without a parent at the discretion of the STARS leadership. This is something that must be discussed with STARS leadership and approved.
