Latin 1

Grades 5th – 9th

In this class we will utilize Memoria Press’s First Form Latin (part of their Latin Forms series) for a gentle but thorough introduction to the basics of Latin.  The grammar and vocabulary of Latin will be taught in a systematic way to facilitate retention and understanding.  There will be in-class instruction of each lesson, review of the workbook exercises that are to be completed at home, and quizzes and tests administered.

After finishing First Form, the student will have mastered:

  • The six indicative active tenses of the first two verb conjugations
  • Five noun declensions
  • First and second declension adjectives
  • 185 vocabulary words

Prerequisite: It’s helpful but not required if students have memorized the five noun declension case endings and the three present, indicative verb conjugation endings.
