Informal Logic

Grades 7-10th

An excellent first step towards learning logic, debate, and the art of arguing well, this class serves to introduce students to 28 informal, logical fallacies such as red herrings, ad hominem, begging the question, and more.  From advertisements to politicians to spats amongst friends, we encounter faulty arguments every day.  In this class students will learn which arguments are strong vs. weak through the honing of their inductive reasoning skills.  We’ll have fun in class analyzing age-appropriate social, commercial, and political issues through the use of our workbook and dialectic discussion questions.
